green spots in tomatoes

: Does any one know what the cause of green spots inside of red tomatoes are?  The seeds are from my grandfather who has been planting the same tomatoes for more than 50 years.  He saved the seeds and planted them for all those years and I would like to carry it on but last year those same tomatoes had green spots all through them.  No one has had any idea of what the spots are from and any ideas would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!!!
