I recently purchased a house with an old grape arbor at the back of the property, in full sun. The arbor posts have rotted at ground level and were threaded with heavy wire cabel, which is quite rusted now, to support the vines. The off-shots are alive; some of the original vines are as thick as young trees and cracked in a few places; however, the cracks seem to have healed over. I want to try to bring this back. The old vines are very heavy and lying on the ground. Should I try to raise them? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
