: : : Hello. I have been pulling out several unwanted mushrooms every day in my garden. They seem to grow so quickly. I don't think that I am overwatering, although the soil is usually damp. I live in a fairly dry area and use a drip system; I water for 10 minutes 3 times daily. These mushrooms just keep growing. Any ideas? thanks in advance.
: : I'm afraid you're doomed to live with your mushrooms. The mushroom is actually the fruiting body of the main plant, which remains underground. The mycelium, as it's called, looks like filaments of webby stuff. Periodically, mushrooms sprout and spread spores. Removing the mushrooms as they appear will help stop the spread of them, but short of replacing your bedding material there's really no way to get rid of the mycelium.
: : You could do what I do...just enjoy them for their unique addition to your garden. They do tend to attract slugs, though. The only slugs I've ever found in my yard have been on mushrooms!
