I live in central NC and for the past 2 years bugs have attacked my sunflowers. My sunflowers grow very well and when they mature and really start to bloom I notice they "wilt". I then pulled one up and the roots are covered with shiney, brown-reddish beetles. they ate all the roots. every sunflower I planted for the past 2 years succombed to these pests. They didnt attack any ohter plant in my garden or yard, only the sunflowers. Can anyone tell me what they are? and secondly how to get rid of them before they start to eat away the roots of next years sunflowers? Thanks, Keith
