I live in zone 5 Illinois just outside of chicago and purchase an affican lily (Agapanthus orientalis). It was beautiful last summer and thought I would try to winter it over indoors since I was told it would not tolerate our cold winter weather. Well now in late january it sent up a flower stalk that is about 8 inches tall now. Is this thing really going to open up for me? Should I start watering more often and give it some fertilizer? I thought of moving it to a sunnier spot. I thought I was just doing well keeping it green all winter. Has anyone had one of these bloom over the winter and indoors on top of it?
