: : : : : Hello,
: : : : : I bought some soil and potted my indoor plants. Every time I watered my plants, there are lots of bugs the next day. Should I disgard the soil and repot or is there any suggestions? Thank you.

: : : : Hi Nellie,
: : : : What kind of bugs? Do they fly, are they white, do they look like fruit flies?

: : : Hi Newt,
: : : They are black, they fly quite fast. I am not sure if I used the wrong soil to pot my plant. Thanks. Nellie
: : Hi Nellie,
: : If you used potting soil, you didn't use the wrong stuff. It sounds like you have fungal gnats. They thrive on moisture and decaying matter. They probably came with the soil. Many people think they're harmless, but a large infestation can actually kill a plant, not to say anything about the nuisance they are.
: : Gardens Alive sells a safe and organic way of getting rid of them. You might be able to find something like it at a local nursery center.
