: I'm trying to figure out why my lawn won't green up like all my neighbor's yards. I've used Green Sweep's Weed'n Feed spray a couple of times, but it's hard to notice improvement beyond my own optimism. Texas is pretty dry if not humid, but we have embedded sprinkler systems. What's the best method to get the grass to stop drying up. Those spray bottles are pretty expensive to keep using and not work.

Hi Sprinkler,

Try feeding the soil instead of the grass and top dress with compost. Also, you might want to try something more organic for a fertilizer and weed killer. Take a look at www.gardensalive.com

The best time to fertilize a lawn is in the fall, with the spring being an extra.

One other explaination could be that you have a different type of grass that isn't the same color and texture as your neighbors'.

Good luck,
Newt
