: I just bought a new house and it has a big backyard but the east part of it has a privacy fence with notheing on it. And you can see the ugly gray building next to it. So I figured I need trees but I have no clue as to what the best option or how much each tree is. The trees need to be at least 15 ft tall. Any ideas?
: Thanks!

Hi Gabriella,

Congratulations on your new home. It would be difficult to make recommendations not knowing where you live. Florida would require different trees than Montana. Here's a zip code zone finder.

Expect to pay half the price of the tree for planting. So, if the tree is $100, it will cost about an extra $50 for it to be planted by the nursery. You might be able to work out a discount if you are purchasing several. If you are planting evergreen trees you will have year round screening. Here's a site you can refer to once you get recommendations. It will give you helpful information such as whether the tree has lots of surface roots, drops lots of litter and what the mature height and crown width will be.

I'm wondering if the building you are seeing is behind the fence. If you just want something to dress up the fence, you could plant shrubs or vines.
