what to plant on a slope

I live in la california and i have a slope garden , down towards the house. I have been rearanging my garden and now have a spot that is 9 feet by 13 feet and i would love to have something like grass but something more easy to take care of. I still would wan't to be able to sit and walk on it. We also have a dog. would love some recomendations.
