I don't know if it will grow in zone 10, (I live in zone 7 in Maryland) but you could always look at the Stepables site I referred you to for the hardiness zone. It will also tell you how much it costs and has a calculator that you can use to figure out how much of a particular groundcover you will need. I grow this one and it doesn't spread as quickly as other groundcovers will. You did say that you wanted the look of grass so that is why I suggested it.

Another option for you might be one of the creeping thymes. It will take light foot traffic. Do check to see if it will grow in zone 10.
