PH Soil Testing

: The only way I have found to test the PH of the soil in my garden is buying a kit for $3.95.  But the kit will only test one sample per kit.  That seems really expensive since I want to test a lot of places in my yard.  Does anyone have any suggestions of how to do this cheaper than the kits?  Can I get ph testers in some other store, like medical supplies, aquariums, janitorial services?  Thank you for your help.
