Transplanting a grapevine

: I basically have no idea about gardening. I know that water and sun and pruning make things grow. I don't know what zone I am in, I live in Maine. My mother in law has a 5 year old grapevine that we want to transplant. How should I go about doing this. How far are the roots, etc.? What type of soil should it be planted in? I would appreciate any knowledge people have on this subject. I consider myself an expereinced online researcher, but I am new to this area and having difficult time finding anything.
