: We just laid a brick patio with sand in the cracks. We like the look of moss and other small plants in the cracks. Is this something we should have planted while laying the patio? Something to wait to develop over time or is their another solution? Seeds? Thanks.

For moss I'd dust the bricks with sawdust, repeat every six months or so. The saw dust will collect in the cracks and moss will find the space (works best in shady areas).

Thyme or some such aromatic could be planted in cracks and will spread.
