: When is it safe to prune back rhodies? I have some that are at least 30 years old and are in great need of some pruning. I live in SW Washington, and this is the time of year that they are flowering. Thanks in advance for your help! Becci
Hi Becci,
Within 2 weeks of the end of their flowering. If you are going to hard prune to rejuvinate, just do one third of the shrub each year for 3 years. Here's a site you might find helpful.
