: This may sound strange to you seasoned gardeners but I am a beginner and have searched the internet trying to find an answer to this problem. Every spring we have these tiny green bugs that come out of a birch tree that is on our meridian. People told us they were Aphids so we used Dormant Oil on out Apple tree that year and it seemed to help. We did this again this spring but it did not help and the apple tree and the plum tree we just planted are infested. They make the leaves curl and there is a white sticky substance with them. They do not seem to eat the leaves just make them curl and then they die. They come out of the trees attached to what looks like a spiders web, only one long piece. There are hundreds of them. They have a completely soft body and are a pale green. If anyone knows how to help please let me know. I am desperate as they are killing the trees one leaf at a time.

Thanks Newt. I tried it but seems like I am still stuck with the Aphid thing. I am really lost. The Apple tree is curling it's leaves and I believe it may have some white flies on it also. I am out to try and find out how to destroy them also. I do not know if Dormant Spray stops them or not? Thanks for answering.
