: This was my first year to plant sunflowers.  I grew them in peat pots first, then planted the seedlings all along our back fence.  Of the whole lot, there were only 3 survivors!  I have nursed those 3 and managed to get 2 of them to a decent size.  Now, SOMETHING is eating the whole heads!  I hadn't cut off the flowers to use in an arrangement because they looked so pretty from the back door.  But, now they are ALL GONE!  I counted 17 stems with the flowers gone.  Is it squirrels and what can I do about it?
