: HI, There's a pear tree in the backyard (SW exposure) with pear scab condition and some "web-kind" (suspects it's caterpillars or eggs of some sort???) problem, I have cut off the branches with the "web". My 1st question is how do I treat the "web" problem (I've got the advice earlier to treat the scab problem - thanks). Earlier this year, I've planted a cherry and apple trees quite next to the pear tree. 2nd question is: will the "webby" problem be on the these fruit trees too? The trees are not really doing well - cherry tree leaves are curled inwards and the apple tree doesn't look too healthy either. I lived Vancouver, British Columbia. I must be doing something wrong - please help a confused gardener.

Hi Lakhvrik,
I'm sorry to hear of your fruit tree woes. Here's a site that might help you to identify what is going on with your trees. The 'Small Friut' and 'Fruit Trees' links aren't up and working yet, so click on 'Shade Trees'.

Don't give up. Sometimes these things happen. You might also want to look into how you have cared for your trees. Trees and plants that are stressed from things like lack of water, poor soil, poor light conditions, etc. are more prone to insect pests and diseases.

If we can be of more help, don't hesitate to write.
