Fusarium
Root Rot (on Beans)
Description: Slow growth and appearance of red spots or
streaks on lower stem and roots. First true leaves prematurely
yellow and drop off. Diseased plants often stay alive
by producing new roots near the soil surface; however,
yield is severely reduced or eliminated.
Solution: Minimizing
soil compaction is very helpful in reducing fusarium
root rot. Regular rotation with cover crops is a good
way to loosen soil structure. Sprinkle SoilGardTM Microbial
Fungicide over bean seed at time of sowing,
before covering seed with soil.
