Cosmos atrosanguineus
( Chocolate Cosmos )
| The tuberous-rooted perennial is known for its late summer to fall blooms atop coarsely cut, silver foliage. Daisy-like flowers are brownish red and have a chocolate or vanilla fragrance. Heights range from 2 feet to 2.5 feet. Best planted in generous drifts. Starts readily from seed sowed in open ground from spring to summer. Transplants maybe set out from flats as well. In really cold areas, dig tubers out and store as you would dahlias. |
| Important Info : Cosmos do best in soil that is not too rich or moist, so hold back on the fertilizer and water.
Great for naturalizing. Self-sowing plant that attracts birds. |
