| 'Anne Russel' is a compact grower that produces pink-budded, fragrant 3 inches wide flowers that open several weeks before the cultivar, 'Fulbrook'. This plant is a cross between Viburnum carlesii and Viburnum utile. It is noted not only for its fragrant, snowball-shaped, mid to late spring flowers that are pink in bud, but also for tolerance to pollution, heat, and cold. Leaves are medium to olive green and leathery.
Red fruit persists throughout the winter and beckons birds. Soil should be moderately fertile and moist, yet well-drained in full to partial sun. Evergreen in warmer areas and deciduous in cooler areas. Grows to 8 feet tall and wide. |
