| This is a thicket-forming, dense, deciduous shrub or small tree with spiny shoots. Grows to 8 feet tall and wide. Dark green leaves are pinnate to 12 inches in length, with 9 to 13 ovate to oblong leaflets. Dark rose, fragrant flowers, to 1 1/4 inches long are held in pendant racemes, to 5 inches in length. Followed by brown, bristly seed pods, to 2 1/2 inches long.
'Arnot' is a choice plant of the Soil Conservation Service because it helps to stabilize sandy, steep slopes. It is also a nitrogen fixer. |
