| This perennial, native to woodland mountains in southern Japan, has a rhizomatous root system which makes it a good ground cover for slopes. Leaves are deeply lobed, olive green and glossy. Basal leaves have long leaf stalks, but as they progress up the stem, they become smaller with very short stalks. Flowers are bell-shaped and greenish yellow, but do not last for long. Thrives in rich, moist soil, in shady spots. Ideally mass planted along the banks of creeks. |
