|Grown for its attractive, rich green foliage, valued fall color, and mottled, peeling bark. Leaves are glossy, to 5 inches long; turn orange, red, purple, and yellow in fall. Flowers are tiny and red, produced in spherical clusters 1/2 inch across. Prefers deep, fertile, moist, but well-drained soil. Best fall color in acid soil. From a distance, this tree resembles the Flowering Dogwood.
