| L. pumilum is a true species lily with slender stems bearing numerous scattered, linear leaves, to 4 inches long. Bears racemes of up to 30 fragrant, nodding to pendent, scarlet flowers, unspotted or with a few black spots. Requires acidic soil and full sun or partial shade. Russia to Mongolia, N. China, and Korea.
Deadhead spent flowers, but wait until stems and leaves turn yellow to cut back to within a few inches of the ground. Spring and fall are the best time to transplant, even though they can be transplanted any time. Provide ample moisture while flowering, but can take periods of drought otherwise. |
