Rhododendron hybrida
( Bruce Hancock Harris Azalea )
| Widely used in the Pacific Northwest, this attractive azalea is becoming more widely used in some California areas. Most notable feature is its super-large flowers that bloom in late spring. Flowers are white with pink edges, to 3 1/2 inches across.
Spreading up to 4 feet, the low habit of this azalea makes it a suitable ground cover. Filtered light is best. Plant as you would any azalea: high and in well-drained, acid soil, rich in organic matter.
Though azaleas have a potentially large list of possible pest and disease problems, they are usually trouble free if planted correctly in proper cultural conditions. |
