| Among the hardiest of the hollies hailing from northern Japan. 'China Girl' has a true holly look in a compact, mounded form, with 1/3 inch in diameter, red berries, purple stems and green foliage. Leaves tend to cup down, and are glossy and spiny. Needs rich, slightly acidic soil. More heat tolerant than the 'Blue' varieties. Intermitent placement of 'China Boy' with 'China Girl' for pollination, in mass planting for borders or hedges, will produce abundant, beautiful fruits and foliage. |
