| Nanus has a short trunk and stiffer leaf blades. In general, Fortunei, also known as Chusan or Windmill palm, is an unbranched, single-stemmed, evergreen palm with fan-shaped, dark green leaves. Produces small yellow flowers in large, pendent panicles. Female plants produce spherical, blue-black fruit. Trachycarpos is a fan-leafed palm, very hardy and medium height. Trunks have the characteristic hairy bark with fibrous plates. Mature trees shed fiber from their lower trunks. The leaves are highly divided, fan shaped and also fibrous. Require partial shade or full sun. Cold hardiness depends on the species, but all can be grown indoors in containers. |
