| This is a ligulatae (one of the 5 Saxifrage categories) saxifrage with sizable, clustered rosettes of linear, lime-encrusted silvery leaves, up to 6 inches long. After 3 or 4 years, it produces large, arching, pyramidal panicles, between 12 to 28 inches long, of up to 80 white, five petaled flowers, each 1/2 inch across. These are excellent plants for the rock garden in well-drained, alkaline soil of moderate fertility. |
