| Illicium floridanum is a heavily branched, dense evergreen shrub, 6-10 feet tall, the spread is a little less. Foliage is dark green, older leaves tend to droop. Fruit is a star-shaped capsule, 1 inch wide, green at first, maturing to brown in early fall. Prefers soil with high organic content, and can tolerate fairly wet conditions, likes at least partial shade, leaves fade in full sun. Not bothered by pests.
