| Elegant perennial with delicate, soft green fronds with fan-shaped segments that are borne on glossy, black arching stems. Wonderful addition to the woodland garden. Nice along ponds or in rock gardens. Native to North America, this fern thrives in shady location with steady moisture. Protect from slugs and snails.
The cultivar, 'Capillus Veneris' has fronds that are open and well-spaced, and the pinnules are wide and wedge-shaped with lobing. The stipes are dark and shiny.
