Cucumis melo
( Prescott Fond Blanc Melon )
| 'Prescott Fond Blanc' is an heirloom cantaloupe. Cantaloupes are difficult to raise in the U.S. because they require such a long, hot, dry growing season. This particular cultivar grows from 5 to 9 pounds. It is globular, with a flat top and bottom, heavily ribbed, with dark and light green warts on its white skin. The flesh is salmon-colored, thick and juicy. For best melons, allow only one to mature per vine.

| Important Info : They can be difficult to grow outside the region in which they were developed. Baking hot, sandy soil, is generally a good bet for improving your crop. It is useful to have a cold frame to get the plants going early. |
