| Shrub shaped, multibranched version of the Blue Gum. Often used for a windbreak and can be pruned down to 10 feet in hight. Foliage consists of dark green sickle-shaped 6 to 10 inch long leaves. Flowers bloom white to yellow and 1 inch wide, lumpy, bluish seed capsules along with small fruits drop from this tree in rather large quantities making it quite messy. The foliage of nearly all species has a strong pungent odor similar to menthol. Well drained soil is preferable. Trees do very well planted from seed. Plant seeds in spring or summer keep shaded and water sparingly until 2 to 3 inches high. |
