Rhododendron hybrida
( Girard Salmon Delight Girard Azalea )
| A cold hardy (down to -5 degrees F), deciduous azalea of medium to large size grown for it's large flowers. Girard Salmon Delight has a broad, upright form and medium green leaves which turn orange and yellow in fall. Flowers are brilliant rose with yellow tinge, held in large trusses of up to 30 florets, to 5 1/2 inches across.
Resistant to mildew. This particular azalea hybrid was bred by Girard Nursery's in Geneva, Ohio. Though azaleas have a potentially large list of possible pest and disease problems, they are usually trouble free if planted correctly in proper cultural conditions.
Flowering time is from early to late spring depending on cultivar and growing climate. Plant as you would any of the other azaleas: high and in well-drained, acid soil, rich with organic matter. Though azaleas have a potentially large list of possible pest and disease problems, they are usually trouble free if planted correctly in proper cultural conditions. |
