| These epiphytic, tropical cacti originate from the Southeastern Brazil rainforest and are grown for their showy, trumpet-shaped, bright red, late winter to early spring flowers. Some species however will flower from summer to autumn. Leaves are fleshy, medium green, pendulous, and truncate. This plant prefers moderate water and humidity and a high potash fertilizer monthly during the growing season. When repotting, do so in a cactus. Light should be bright, but indirect. It is not uncommon for buds to drop if conditions become overly dry. |
