Abies cephalonica
( Greek Fir )
| Tall, columnar evergreen reaching heights of up to 100 feet and widths 15 feet to 25 feet. Ideal speciman for background in narrow spaces, although does spread with age. Needles are dark green, glossy, silvery white underneath. Leaves are arranged radially around the shoot which distinguishes this species from others. Cones are cylindrical, resinous, and green before ripening to brown and releasing seeds. Performs best when given partial shade and ample water in well drained soil. |
