| Tropical, evergreen perennial with short rhizomes and smooth, leathery, 2 to 3 feet long, oblong leaves. Leaf undersides are whitish and very waxy. Unusual, 3 to 12 inch long pendent inflorescences, resembling bird's of paradise, hold white sepaled flowers. Borne from spring through summer.
Requires a minimum temperature of 59 degrees F. Excellent cut flowers. Native from Guatemala to Peru. |
