| Tilia tomentosa's growth habit is upright and oval crowned, often has multiple stems. The bark is smooth gray, eventually develops ridges and furrows. Foliage is glistening and shiny dark green above and silvery and downy below. Fragrant, yellowish white flowers bloom in early to mid summer on pendulous cymes. The flowers are attractive to bees, apparently narcotic. It has good heat tolerance, and is a beautiful shade tree. Native to Europe, western Asia. Various cultivars have been developed. |
