| Lutea is slow-growing, with dark yellow flowers. Capensis is an uright, scarmbling, evergreen shrub with slender stems and pinnate, lustrous, mid- to dark green leaves, each with 5 to 7 elliptic-ovate to roughly diamond-shaped, toothed leaflets. Produces racemens that are slender and tubular with orange to scarlet flowers. In general, this lovely rambling shrub or climber makes as nice loose, large-scale plant for slopes or works well when trained over arches or espaliered against a wall. Summer flowers are tubular, slender and orange or scarlet and foliage is medium to dark green, oval to diamond shaped and toothed. Grow where soil is moist, but well-drained and fertile and sun is full. Make sure that plant receives adequate water during the growing season, but water sparingly during the winter. Fertilize with a half strenghth fertilizer monthly during the growing season. Prune early flowering selections after flowering and late flowering selections around mid-spring. |
