| Pittosporum crassifolia is a large evergreen shrub or small tree, upright and bushy. The foliage is leathery, dark green throughout the year, white felted beneath. Tubular-bell-shaped, dark red to purple flowers appear in early summer; males in clusters of 10, females in clusters of 5. Quite a tolerant plant, will stand sandy soil to clay, hot, dry conditions, salt spray and heavy shade. Can get leaf spot and mealy bugs.
