| The upright, flat, oblong or obovate, vivid green joints, reach up to 5 inches in length and have 1-6 spines of 1 inch extending from the upper pinkish-white areoles while yellowish glochids cover the surface. In summer the large vivid yellow flowers are borne singly and then produce fruit. This genus has the largest membership of sun loving species. Australia has even banned a few species because of their rapid growth. |
