Aubrieta deltoidea
( Common Aubrieta )
| The cultivar 'Joy' is a low-growing, mat-forming, spreading perennial with soft, medium green leaves. 'Joy' bears double, cross-shaped, short-stemmed, violet-mauve blooms held in sparsely-flowered racemes, which are profusely borne in spring. Grows to 2 inches tall and spreads to 24 inches. These make a nice splash of color in rock gardens, borders, or cascading down walls. Watering before and during bloom period is a must; becomes more drought tolerant later on. Cut back spent flowers, leaving 1/2, preferably 2/3 of plant. |
| Important Info : This cultivar is actually one of A. x cultorum, though it is usually sold as an A. deltoidea cultivar, so this is how it is being classified here. |
