| The cultivar 'Wartburg Star' is a mound-forming, rhizomatous perennial aster with hairy, dark green, elliptic leaves, up to 3 1/2 inches long. 'Wartburg Star' bears dark violet-blue flowerheads with orange-yellow disk florets in early summer. Grows to 36 inches tall and spreads to 12 inches. Grow in full sun where soil is moderately fertile and well-drained, though this plant will tolerate moist sites. Divide when needed in either early spring or fall. Native to western China, Himalayas. |
