| Abies nordmanniana is a stately fir tree, usually growing 40 to 60 feet in height when cultivated, but up to 200 feet in the wild. The lustrous dark green needles densely cover the branches and have 2 whitish bands underneath. The large 5- to 6-inch cones are reddish brown, cylindrical or tapered somewhat. Grows best in slightly acidic soils in full to part sun. 'Procumbens' is a low-growing cultivar has a prostrate habit and needles that are flat and blunt. |
