| Tetranema is an evergreen perennial, shrub-like in appearance, that thrives under moist, shady circumstances at high altitudes (up to 4,000 feet). Native to Mexico and Guatemala, this plant is grown for its showy, trumpet-shaped flowers that are produced over a long period of time during the summer. Flowers are either mauve, violet, or lilac colored and leaves are leathery and elliptical and scalloped. Soil should be well-drained. If grown as a houseplant, provide filtered light with moderate to high humidity. During the growing season, water freely and fertilize monthly with a balanced fertilizer. Repot in spring. |
