| These long and flat, green joints reach up to 2 1/2 inches in length and come with white hairs. The small, brown areoles have yellow glochids and a few hairs. It is covered in a multitude of reddish spines up to an inch in length. In summer the bell-shaped, yellow flowers are borne singly then produce fruit. This genus has the largest membership of sun loving species. Australia has even banned a few because of their rapid growth. |
