| Semi-evergreen perennial with tufts of open rosettes bearing glossy, medium green, lance-shaped leaves, to 2 1/2" long. Dianthus-like flowers are dark reddish-purple, solitary, to 2" wide, and borne in early summer. Grows to 10" tall and spreads 6". This delicate plant is easy to grow and is at home in the woodland or rock garden that does not get too much winter moisture. Native to screes in the Italian Alps. |
