|G. primulinus makes a corm 1 to 2 inches in diameter, has ribbed leaves and blooms in clear primrose-yellow flowers on 3 foot tall stems. Gladiolus are grown for their flowers that bloom on spikes 2 to 3 feet tall and need staking at times. The flowers being arranged along the spike all face the same way. Their leaves are formed in a sharp point and takes its name from the Latin gladius, meaning a sword. The cultivar, 'Atom' blooms in slightly frilled orange-scarlet with a cream edge.
Important Info : If grown in an open, sunny location where they are not bothered by strong winds, they can be used anywhere in the garden.
