| This is a Kabschia (a subsection of Porphyrion, which is one of the 5 saxifrage sections) saxifrage with dense mats or rosettes of linear to oblong, deep green, grayish-green, or lime-encrusted silvery-green leaves, 1/8 to 1/2 inch long. After a couple years, it produces dark reddish-purple, single, cup-shaped, 1/2 inch wide flowers. This is an excellent plant for the rock garden in well-drained, alkaline soil of moderate fertility. |
