| Elaeagnus x ebbingii is suspected of being a hybrid between Elaeagnus macrophylla and Elaeagnus pungens. It is less wild in habit, but more hardy in constitution. It is an evergreen in mild climates, semi-evergreen in colder winter areas. It was first propagated in 1929, and several cultivars have been developed. |
