Fall color is scarlet. Considered the ultimate garden specimen, this plant is often seen in Japanese gardens.'Ever-Red' is a 7-lobed form of dissectum atropurpureum, not to be confused with other specimens often sold under the name 'Ever Red'. 'Ever Red' has been known to grow to a height of 15 feet. Excellent effect when used by water or dry creek bed. Also known as 'Dissectum Nigrum'.
